Author's Guidelines
Everything you need to prepare, format and submit your manuscript — organised the way a review file actually comes together.
The Journal of Clinical Dentistry accepts only original manuscripts that have not been published previously, are not under consideration elsewhere, and are not in press with other journals, books, or publishing outlets. Duplicate or simultaneous submissions will not be considered.
All correspondence regarding a manuscript must be conducted through the designated corresponding author, who is required to provide a valid institutional email address. Submissions without this requirement will not be processed for peer review or publication. Please use editorial@journalofclinicaldentistry.com for all official correspondence.
Submission Components
Five parts make up a complete manuscript file, in the order a reviewer expects to find them.
Cover Letter
Mandatory for every submission. It should briefly explain the relevance of the article to the field of clinical dentistry and highlight how the work contributes to advancing dental research and practice.
Title Page
- Full names, academic titles and institutional affiliations of all authors
- Contact details of the corresponding author, including a verified email address
- ORCID iD for each author, to correctly identify their scholarly contributions
- A complete title (max 150 characters) and a short running title (max 60 characters)
- Five to ten keywords for indexing, avoiding words already used in the title
Abstract
Must be structured under the following headings, as applicable:
- Background / Objectives
- Materials and Methods (or Case Presentation for case reports)
- Results
- Conclusions
Narrative reviews do not require a structured abstract. Editorials and Letters to the Editor do not require an abstract at all.
Main Text, Tables & Figures
The main text should be clearly organised, concise, and supported by appropriately formatted tables and figures. Every table and figure must be cited in the text and carry a descriptive title or legend. Figures should ideally include dental images, radiographs, charts, or clinical photographs relevant to the study.
References
Numbered consecutively in order of appearance, using superscript Arabic numerals without parentheses. Every entry must list the full names of all authors (no et al.), year of publication (no month), journal name, volume number and page range. Issue numbers are not included.
Document & File Format
Manuscripts must be submitted as a single Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) containing all required sections, excluding figure files. Pages must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals at the bottom of each page, and the manuscript must carry continuous line numbering throughout to facilitate peer review and revisions.

Declarations & Final Statements
Statements every accepted manuscript must carry, covering interests, funding, contribution and data.
Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their work — consultancies, employment, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patent applications, or grants.
- "[Author Name] has served as a speaker, consultant, and advisory board member for [Organization] and has received research funding from [Organization]."
- "[Author Name] is an employee of [Organization]."
- "[Author Name] owns stocks or shares in [Organization]."
- "[Author Name] is the inventor of patent [Patent ID, brief description]."
Funding
Acknowledge all sources of financial support for the research, including the funding body's name, grant numbers where applicable, and any funding-related interests.
Authors' Contributions
Describe each author's role using the CRediT taxonomy, for example:
- Author 1 — Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing (Original Draft)
- Author 2 — Data Curation, Formal Analysis, Writing (Review & Editing)
- Author 3 — Supervision, Funding Acquisition, Project Administration
Data Availability
State where the study's data can be found:
- Available in [Repository] at [Permanent Web Link]
- Not public due to [Reason], available from corresponding author on request
- Not applicable — no datasets generated or analyzed
- Included in the article and/or its supplementary files
Copyright Transfer
Accepted manuscripts require a signed Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) before moving to production. Copyright transfers to the Publisher on acceptance; authors retain rights for academic, teaching and non-commercial use with proper citation. Return the completed CTA to editorial@journalofclinicaldentistry.com or upload it via the submission system.
Third-Party Permission
Authors are responsible for ensuring manuscripts do not include copyrighted material without authorization. Written permission is required for third-party figures, photographs, illustrations, charts, tables and clinical images — send documentation to the editorial office. Proprietary names, trademarks or brand names must be clearly identified.

Authors are advised to ensure that all required components, as outlined in the Author's Guidelines, are included before submission.
By adhering to these guidelines, authors help ensure a smooth submission process, maintain high publication standards, and support the mission of the Journal of Clinical Dentistry in advancing dental research and clinical practice.
